Here is a description of the cabin and land: This home sits on 80 m/l mostly forested acres. It is bordered by
Pioneer Forest to the north and private land owners with large acreages on the other three sides. There are no close neighbors.
This is a very private, remote location.
There is a beautiful, winding dirt road through the woods which leads to the property - approximately 1 1/2 miles long.
The land around the house is cleared, sitting out in a nice open sunny spot. All the rest is wooded. There is an established 50' strawberry bed along with 18 raised garden beds and two large plowed areas that have been planted with beans, sunflowers, corn, squash, melons and potatoes. All heirloom varieties.
*UPDATE* We've set in some red raspberries and the 30' x 50' high tunnel is up! We've filled it up with several heirloom varieties of tomatoes and sweet peppers.
We began construction on the house in the Fall of 2009. It has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It is well insulated, keeping you cool in the Summer and warm in the Winter. The inside wall coverings are tongue and groove pine and some drywall. The central log beam was taken from the property as were the cedar railings.
The windows are all double pane. The plumbing is PEX and the wiring is standard although we are living non-electric right now.
The dimensions of the house are 24' x 32'. There are 4 porches, each 8' x 24', equaling 800 sq. ft. in porches. There is also a 12' x 24' deck off the dining area - through the French doors.
The cabin is built on a post and pier foundation and the exterior is native pine lap siding. We used 8" pine boards on the front to give it the look of hand-hewn log siding.
There is a 24 x 36 shop/ barn underway. And one more thing...there is a two-seater outhouse out back! :)
